The Assistant Buyer will support the purchasing department by assisting with issuing purchase orders, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring the accuracy of deliveries and vendor invoices. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting efficient procurement processes.
Job Responsibilities- Assist in issuing and managing purchase orders for various projects, ensuring timely and accurate placement.
- Track and monitor the status of purchase orders, providing updates as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers to align purchasing activities with project timelines and budgets.
- Help develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Assist in evaluating and selecting vendors based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Ensure that all vendors comply with company policies, legal requirements, and contractual agreements.
- Monitor and verify the accuracy of deliveries against purchase orders and project requirements.
- Review vendor invoices for accuracy and ensure they align with purchase orders and delivery receipts.
- Resolve discrepancies and issues with vendors in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, vendor agreements, and other procurement-related documentation.
- Assist in preparing reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and budgetary impacts.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and supply chain management.
- Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and best practices to enhance procurement strategies.
Assistant Buyer will work under the Purchasing Manager.
Working RelationshipsAssistant Buyer will maintain good personal relationships with fellow workers, vendors, manufacturers and the general public. They will be expected to participate in meetings, seminars, and training as required.
RequirementsEducation and Training: To become an Assistant Buyer, you require an associate’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Experience in a purchasing or procurement support role is preferred.
Communication Skill: Assistant Buyer must have strong communication skills.
Critical Thinking: They must be detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
Organizational Skill: Assistant Buyers need to have strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
