Although the position requires general surgical pathology sign‑out expertise, a specialty focus would be welcomed. Preferred areas would be Breast, GI, or GU, but we are open to other specialties.

Call schedule: 1:6 weekend and 1:7 weeknight; call usage is slim and from home.

Autopsies minimal, 5‑10 per year split within the department.

You will be joining a laboratory team that includes nearly 20 pathologists located in four communities in central and northern Wisconsin and extending into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Our pathology specialists have expertise in cytopathology, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal pathology, hematopathology, infectious disease pathology, nephron pathology, neuropathology/neuromuscular pathology, cardiovascular pathology, and transfusion medicine, and are supported by 2 PhD clinical laboratory scientists.

The Pathology Department processes approximately 50,000 surgical cases each year and maintains on‑site ancillary diagnostic services including a broad immunohistochemical menu and transmission electron microscopy. Academic affiliations with regional universities and research opportunities in collaboration with the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute are encouraged.

We strongly encourage our physicians to be involved in medical education and research to continue building our strong foundation of patient care, research and education for years to come.
