Leaders Igniting Transformation is seeking dynamic, inspiring part-time College Fellows to support the development of LIT chapters on campuses, year-round civic engagement of college students, and movement building through our various campaigns and issue focuses statewide across Wisconsin.
As a fellow within the College Department, you’ll be responsible for contributing to these various focus areas:
Chapter Building and Maintenance – 25%- Leading + facilitating chapter meetings with members.
- Working with members, campus faculty and staff, other student organizations, and the LIT College Department Team to expand the chapter’s connection to community members and organizations aligned with our work.
- Planning and executing campus events to increase member engagement and retention to promote our organization, and move our campaign forward.
- Recruiting 8-10 new members per semester that attend 75% of chapter meetings.
- Tabling and street teaming on campus twice a week.
- Class/Raps:
Schedule times to meet with classes and student organizations to present LIT and collect interested student’s information. - Engage in weekly 1:1 meetings with new and current members to get to know their interests and organize them into taking action.
- Train members on how to effectively recruit new members.
- Planning fun, creative events for the student body and collaborating with other student organizations.
- Engage with Student Government/Senate (i.e., including attending meetings and connecting with senators to present our work and planning meetings with their leadership team), the Dean of Students, and the Chancellor’s office
- Utilize chapter meetings to train members on our Dare to Divest campaign understanding, tools, and strategies
- Create direct action advocacy events to bring awareness to our work and invite people to join us
- Plan and execute voter registration events (2-3 per semester)
- Partner with other student organizations on campus to plan and execute events
- Collect Survey Interest Cards (amount will vary by campus size)
- Facilitate registering people to vote on campus
- Provide accessible, non-partisan education on all electoral aspects: local, state, federal elections, ballot issues, eligibility, absentee voting, polling, and deadlines
- Required Virtual Orientation and Onboarding:
Saturday, February 7th, 2026 | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm CST (virtual) - Program Length:
Saturday, February 7th, 2026 – Friday May 8th, 2026 (13 weeks) - Time commitment: 8-10 hours/week
- Compensation: $18 hour
- Part-time, non-exempt
Experience:
- Must commit to working 8-10 hours a week .
- Must be enrolled at a UW system school full-time (UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, or UW-Whitewater) .
- Must be a driven, self-starter capable of handling multiple projects at a time.
- Must have a commitment to building the leadership capacity of Black & Brown youth.
- Must have a commitment to learning and being in a community with people from various racial & ethnic, gender, sexual, economic, and immigration status backgrounds.
- Must be willing to serve as a representative of LIT on their college campus.
- Must be willing to attend in-person events, tabling shifts, meetings, and other commitments related to the position.
- Must have access to reliable WiFi and be able to attend virtual meetings and be on camera.
