The Marshfield Police Department is accepting applications from responsible individuals with excellent character for the position of Police Officer. Responsibilities for this position include enforcing the laws and ordinances of the state of Wisconsin and the city of Marshfield in a community‑orientated policing environment. ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS
- Patrols the City, creating a presence in order to reduce the opportunity for misconduct to occur, and provides assistance as needed and protects property against theft or damage.
- Responds to and investigates citizen complaints and traffic collisions in a timely manner, interviews victims, suspects and witnesses, enforces motor vehicle laws, enforces criminal laws, enforces municipal code violations, and arrests offenders.
- Completes reports compiling factual data, evidence and conduct interviews and interrogations when appropriate.
- Testifies in court.
- Performs community caretaker functions, makes recommendations to other agencies and ensures the orderly flow of traffic through the City.
- Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
- Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.

- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standard Board Certification

- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Must have a minimum of 60 college credits prior to offer to hire.

Required:
Valid driver’s license. Must be certifiable by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standard Board. Preferred/Optional:
Ability to pass all tests including; written, scenario based, physical/annual job function test, psychological, and a thorough background investigation. Must pass an annual firearms evaluation and biannual emergency vehicle operations course.

Annual Salary Range: $66,189 - $80,600 DOQ
