JOB SUMMARY
The Infection Preventionist assists leadership in the promotion and application of measures to prevent and/or control infections among patients, visitors, contractors, and employees. This individual will facilitate compliance with the many regulatory agencies with oversight to healthcare facilities. This individual will observe, evaluate, educate, and implement Infection Prevention practices and activities. The Infection Preventionist will identify and pursue additional Infection Prevention opportunities to meet Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) strategic goals and objectives.
The position is accountable for ongoing Infection Prevention practices for designated facilities, executing the components of the Infection Prevention Specialty and may require travel.
Monday - Friday; typically 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. No weekends/no holidays/no call.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATIONFor positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
MinimumRequired:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing or bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, microbiology, public health or related field.

EXPERIENCE MinimumRequired:
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Power Point.
- Two years experience in a healthcare setting. Additional education (Master's of Public Health in an Infection Prevention related field) may be substituted in lieu of experience.
One year experience working in infection prevention practice.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES MinimumRequired:
Infection Control certification (CIC) awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology to be obtained within three years of hire. Applicable State Nurse license as applicable.
Preferred/Optional:Certification in Infection Control (CIC) awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology upon hire.
