Job Requirements
Oversee an assigned phlebotomy and medical laboratory science department area and act as staff resource for instrumentation and testing. Perform routine and complex laboratory analysis and assume responsibility for problem solving, teaching, and systems control. Perform laboratory duties with minimal supervision; validate studies on new equipment, including testing in assigned areas; complete documentation and submit to Director for approval. Serve as staff resource for instrumentation and testing questions;
perform phlebotomy and specimen collection; accurately label specimens per policy and procedure; document received, entered, and released orders in LIS and EMR; report critical, urgent, and significant values per policy; correlate test results; document data in critical value and turnaround reports; train newly hired medical technologists; assign proficiency sample assignments and evaluate results; document quality control in logs; perform monthly online bench review of quality control and submit to peers;
prepare and submit monthly quality control data to Director for review; ensure preventative maintenance on equipment problems. Position may on occasion travel to employer worksites in Polk County (WI), Burnett County (WI), and Chisago County (MN).
One year of Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist experience required.
