The General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Marshfield, Wisconsin, responsible for overseeing all aspects of a 91 room hotel operations. This includes managing the guest experience, supervising front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance teams, restaurant, and ensuring brand standards and service quality are consistently met. The General Manager monitors financial performance, prepares budgets and forecasts, controls costs, and implements revenue-generating initiatives in coordination with ownership and corporate leadership.
Daily responsibilities involve hiring, training, scheduling, and coaching team members, maintaining compliance with safety, legal, and company policies, and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment. The role also requires building strong relationships with guests, local partners, and vendors, and responding promptly to feedback and issues to protect the property’s reputation and performance.
The perfect candidate will be a General Manager who will not have a problem rolling up their sleeves when necessary to assist in the various departments, such as cleaning rooms, helping in maintenance and the kitchen. This is a hands‑on position.
Qualifications- Previous experience as a hotel General Manager is strongly preferred. IHG experience is preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, including staff supervision, performance coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Operational expertise in hotel or hospitality management, covering front office, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and cost control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, team members, and ownership groups.
- Proven ability to implement service standards, quality assurance processes, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with property management systems (PMS), basic office software, and operational reporting tools.
- Ability to work on‑site with a hands‑on approach, prioritize tasks, and remain composed in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
- Previous experience as a hotel General Manager is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
