Saturday, and Sunday off!! Job Overview:
Heavy Duty Truck Assemblers and
Up-Fitters are skilled technicians responsible for assembling,
modifying, and customizing heavy-duty trucks and their components to
meet specific customer or operational requirements. This role involves
working with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, ensuring
quality standards, and adhering to safety protocols in a manufacturing
or workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembly:
Install and
assemble major truck components such as cranes, axles, and smaller
chassis components (toolboxes, chock holders, cone holders, etc.) using
Hand Tools, Power Tools, And Specialized Equipment. Up-Fitting
Customize trucks by adding specialized equipment or features, such as
PTO, hydraulic systems, toolboxes, or custom bodies (e.g., dump beds,
flatbeds), based on blueprints, schematics, or customer specifications.
Wiring and Electrical:
Install and connect electrical wiring, and
control systems for lights, sensors, and auxiliary equipment. Quality
Control:
Inspect completed work to ensure functionality, safety, and
compliance with manufacturer standards and regulatory requirements
(e.g., DOT regulations). Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve
mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues during assembly or
up-fitting processes. Documentation:
Record parts used, labor time, and
modifications made for inventory and customer records. Safety
Compliance:
Follow workplace safety guidelines, including proper use of
personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA standards.
Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team
members to execute complex builds or modifications efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience:
Prior experience in automotive or
heavy equipment assembly, mechanics, or a related field (1-3 years
preferred). Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with tools (e.g., wrenches,
drills, welders) and ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and
electrical schematics. Mechanical Aptitude:
Strong understanding of
heavy-duty vehicle systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy parts (up to 50-75 lbs),
stand for extended periods, and work in various positions (e.g.,
bending, kneeling).
Certifications:
Welding certification, CDL
(Commercial Driver s License), or ASE (Automotive Service Excellence)
certifications are a plus but not always required. Attention to Detail:
Precision in aligning parts and ensuring all modifications meet quality
