- Experience with chest pain and post-cardiac surgical patients
Description:
The role involves working in a telemetry unit with a focus on cardiac medical and surgical care.
Patient population includes those recovering from various cardiac procedures and surgeries such as stent placements, pacemakers, and valve replacements.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:5-6 at night.
Registered nurses are required to titrate drips, including nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, lasix, and bumex.
There is a central telemetry unit monitoring non-critical patients 24/7, enabling nurses to focus on direct patient care.
Charge nurses carry modified assignments and support staff includes nurse aides.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 for patient assistance with various treatments.
Weekend and holiday shifts are required every other week.
Nurses may be needed to float based on unit census as required.
Responsible for incentive spirometry and basic patient care without provided scrubs.
