Malone Healthcare – Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN in the Med Surg / Telemetry specialty for a 13‑week assignment in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Unit Details

Department:
Med Tele RN – 8N. 27 beds, nurse‑to‑patient ratios of Day/Eve 1:4‑5, Noc 1:6 (poss. higher if working short). Common patient diagnoses include oncology/hematology, general medical, GI bleed, PE/DVT, sepsis, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, FTT, weakness, and others.

The unit follows a centralized telemetry system: monitors are read by techs; nurses should be telemetry‑aware. Charge nurse and house supervisor are present on all shifts. Travelers may be asked to step into charge nurse duties, especially on nights.

Responsibilities
  • Provide acute‑care nursing for complex patients.
  • Administer and titrate intravenous drips, including insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitro, amiodarone, octreotide, and transfusion therapies.
  • Monitor telemetry strips and respond to telemetry alerts.
  • Coordinate with nursing aides (ratios 1:7‑9 day/eve, 1:14 overnight) and other team members on the unit.
  • Maintain patient safety and care standards, participating in 12‑hour night shifts.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with BLS certification.
  • Prior experience in acute/critical care settings.
  • Comfort with complex patient care and fluid/electrolyte management.
  • Experience with travel nursing (preferred).
  • Ability to titrate and manage IV drips.
Shift & Scheduling
  • Schedule:

    primarily 12‑hour night shifts; flexibility required for 7‑730 and 1900‑0730 blocks.
  • Weekend schedule:
    Every other Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
  • Holiday schedule: 2/3 days during winter; alternate days at other times.
  • Floating:
    First assignment within med‑surg units; possible four‑hour float shifts elsewhere.
