American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a 7th floor Ortho/Uro/Neuro unit at a Level II Trauma center in Wisconsin, requiring at least 1 year of acute care nursing experience.

• Acute care hospital setting on a 29-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit specializing in Orthopedics, Urology, and Neurology
• Patient population includes orthopedic trauma (fractures, joint replacements), vascular (fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy, heparin drips, wound care), urology (TURP, TURBT, continuous bladder irrigation), neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion, back pain), OB/GYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4–5 on days, 1:5–6 on nights
• Nursing assistants are on unit; RNs take on additional vital sign and ADL responsibilities during evening and overnight hours
• RNs are required to titrate drips per prescribed nomograms; common drips include heparin, nitroglycerin, bivalirudin, Cardizem, and insulin
• Telemetry techs monitor patients 24/7; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Respiratory therapy support is present; equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy — no ventilators
• Charge nurse on all shifts carries a patient assignment; house supervisor present on all shifts
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Float to other adult medical/surgical units required
• Charting system:
  Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 13-week contract

• Active WI or Compact RN license required by start date
• BLS certification (AHA) required and must be active
• Minimum 1–2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Experience with titratable drip management required
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from the same specialty within the last 3 years

• Orientation consists of 1 day of computer training followed by 1–2 days of precepted floor orientation
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling is used based on staffing needs
• Any color scrubs permitted; must be clean and professional
• Candidates who previously worked for this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be eligible at a reduced travel pay rate
• Facility is a Level II Trauma center
