American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis stepdown unit requiring 2 years of recent acute care RN experience and post cardiac cath/surgical experience.
Details- Work in a 29-bed IMC/Telemetry stepdown unit within a Level 2 trauma acute care hospital
- Patient population includes cardiac medical and surgical cases such as post cath lab (stent, pacemaker, ICD, watchman, mitral clip, TAVR), post cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements), Afib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia with temporary pacemakers
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on days through 2300 and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300
- RNs are responsible for titrating drips including Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex, and Dobutamine (no vasopressors)
- A 24/7 central telemetry unit monitors patients and reads strips, so bedside RNs are not required to interpret their own strips
- Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
- Nurse aide ratios are approximately 1:10 on days, 1:10-12 on evenings, and 1:15 after 2300
- RT is available 24/7 for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow vapotherm, while RNs manage incentive spirometry
- Uses Cerner EMR, which is transitioning to Epic
- 12-hour day shifts from
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- No self-scheduling; block scheduling used based on unit needs, with a Fri/Sat/Sun option available
- Floating required as needed based on unit census
- No standby or on-call requirements outside of extra shift opportunities
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital setting required
- Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients required
- Experience managing TR band compression devices required
- Experience managing chest pain patients required
- Experience with post cardiac surgical patients required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred due to unit's use of the system
- Provide direct care to cardiac medical, surgical, and post-procedural patients on a busy stepdown unit
- Titrate cardiac drips as part of daily patient care responsibilities
- Manage incentive spirometry for patients
- No scrubs provided and no specific scrub color required
- Unit-specific orientation includes 1 shift of HR onboarding and 1 shift on the unit
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
- Candidates who previously worked at the facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
- Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced pay rate
