BLS NIHSS Must-Have: 2 years of Med Surg, PCU, or ICU experience. Experience in a clinical setting within the last year. Drip experience.
Description:
This position is in a stepdown unit with a neuro focus. The unit has 28 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night, depending on acuity. Common diagnoses include strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré syndrome, myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, and trauma orthopedic injuries. Experience with home tracheostomy vents is preferred, but training will be provided for those willing to learn.
RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3% saline, and Insulin. There are nurse aids available on the unit during the day and night. Respiratory therapy equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and others. Self-scheduling is available, but managers will balance the schedule. Every other weekend and holiday availability is required. Floating to sister medical surgical units may occur.
The dress code is any solid color scrubs. Clinicians must clock in and out of the facility.
