Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac/Telemetry stepdown unit requiring at least 2 years of recent acute cardiac RN experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details
  • 29-bed IMC/Cardiac Telemetry/Dialysis stepdown unit within an acute care Level 2 trauma facility
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 through 2300 on days, 1:5-6 on nights after 2300
  • Cares for cardiac medical and surgical patients including post cath lab (stent, pacemaker, ICD, Watchman, mitral clip, TAVR) and post cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements) patients, as well as Afib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia requiring temporary pacemakers
  • RNs titrate drips such as nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, lasix, bumex, and dobutamine (no vasopressors)
  • 24/7 central telemetry unit monitors non-critical care patients and reads strips
  • Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
  • Nurse aide support available at varying ratios by shift
  • 24/7 respiratory therapy support for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and Vapotherm; RNs manage incentive spirometry
  • Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
  • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • No self-scheduling; block scheduling used based on unit needs;
    Fri/Sat/Sun option available
  • Floating required as needed based on unit census
  • No call or standby requirements beyond extra shift opportunities
Requirements
  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital setting required
  • Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients and TR band compression device management required
  • Experience managing chest pain and caring for post cardiac surgical patients required
  • 2 professional references required, including 1 from a supervisor
Additional Information
  • Provide direct care to cardiac medical, surgical, and post-procedural patients in a stepdown telemetry environment
  • No scrubs provided and no specific scrub color required
  • Unit orientation includes 1 shift of HR onboarding and 1 shift on the unit
  • All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
  • Candidates who previously worked at the facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration and require facility approval
  • Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
