Description:

Department consists of 7 suites/labs. Average of more than 20 cases per day across all rooms. Common diagnoses/types of patients include port placements, liver biopsies, IVC placements, g-tube placements, PICC and Central Line placements, as well as neuro procedures like coiling, thrombectomy, and embolizations. Anesthesia supports neuro cases. Job duties involve verifying orders and consent, performing head-to-toe assessments, providing patient education, and verifying consent.

Responsibilities also include setting up rooms, circulating cases, administering moderate sedation, assisting anesthesia providers, continuous monitoring of hemodynamics, documentation, and coordinating with the team. Staffing includes 1 RN and 3 techs in the Cath Lab, with varying team sizes in the EP area, and 1 RN and 2 techs in the IR area. An on-call STEMI team consists of 1 RN and 3 techs.

Shifts are composed of 4 ten-hour days per week plus call. Rotating day off is included, with consideration for 5 eight-hour shifts as well. Weeknight and weekend call rotation is required, approximately once every 3 weekdays and every 3 weekends. Call response time is within 30 minutes. No floating requirements are needed. Scrubs are provided, and personal scrub caps can be worn.

Unit specific orientation usually involves 2-3 full days of training and shadowing, with no call during the first week. During the second week, on-call duties will commence with a buddy.
