Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac/Telemetry Stepdown unit position requiring 2+ years of recent post cath lab and post cardiac surgical patient care experience.

Details
  • Acute care Stepdown unit within a Trauma Level 2 facility, specifically 3N Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis IMC/Tele
  • 29-bed unit treating cardiac medical and surgical patients including post cath lab (stent, pacemaker, ICD, watchman, mitral clip, TAVR) and post cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements) cases
  • Also manages patients with Afib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia with temporary pacemakers
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on days through 2300 and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300
  • 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic
  • RNs required to titrate drips including Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex, and Dobutamine (no vasopressors)
  • No call or standby requirements outside of extra shift opportunities
  • Floating required as needed based on unit census
  • No self-scheduling; block scheduling available based on unit needs with Fri/Sat/Sun option
Requirements
  • Active WI or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital environment required
  • Experience with post procedural cath lab patients and management of TR band compression devices required
  • Experience managing chest pain and post cardiac surgical patients required
  • BSN not required for this position
Additional Information
  • 24/7 central telemetry unit monitors all non-critical care patients and reads strips, so RNs are not required to read their own strips
  • Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
  • Nurse aide ratios are 1:10 on days, 1:10-12 on PMs, and 1:15 after 2300
  • RT is available 24/7 for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and Vapotherm; RNs are responsible for incentive spirometry
  • Unit-specific orientation includes 1 shift of HR onboarding and 1 shift on the unit
  • No scrubs provided and no specific scrub color required
  • All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
  • Candidates who previously worked for the facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
  • Local candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are eligible at a reduced rate
