DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an Inpatient Rehab RN for a Med Surg unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and a WI or compact RN license.
Details- Acute care setting on a Level 2 trauma Med Surg Rehab unit
- 10-bed unit with private rooms and a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Patient population includes stroke (40%), trauma, ortho, and neuro cases with a variety of disabilities
- Average length of stay is 10-14 days; adult unit only, no pediatric patients
- Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic
- 12-hour night shifts, with every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements
- No on-call or standby requirements
- Floating required to similar Med Surg telemetry units
- Charge nurse carries a patient assignment, and travelers may serve as charge nurse
- CNA support provided on day and evening shifts; no CNA coverage overnight )
- RNs perform nebulizer and inhaler treatments; RT manages CPAP/BiPAP overnight with RN removal as needed
- Interdisciplinary team includes PT, OT, SLP, and rehab physicians
- RNs required to attend team conferences around 11a-12p
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- Prior rehab experience required for first-time travelers; MS background acceptable with prior travel experience
- 2 professional references required, including 1 from a supervisor
- Provide direct nursing care within an inpatient rehab setting, including medication administration and titratable drips such as IV fluids, antibiotics, and heparin
- Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to support patient rehab goals
- Any color scrubs accepted, provided they are clean and professional in appearance
- Unit-specific orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts
- Duos with matching shifts cannot be accommodated on this unit
- First-time travelers considered if they have rehab experience
- Candidates who previously worked at the facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
- Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are eligible at a reduced rate
