Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg PCU/Tele RN for a Neuro Trauma unit requiring 2 years of recent MS/PCU/ICU experience and trach/vent skills.
Details- PCU-level acute care unit (5N Neuro Trauma) within a Level 2 trauma center
- 28-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights depending on acuity
- Neuro-focused population including strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barre, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, and post-TNK/TPA patients
- Also treats trauma ortho injuries such as hematomas, bleeds, falls on blood thinners, and farm/MVA accidents
- Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-730a)
- Every other weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun) and holiday rotation required, typically 2-3 winter holidays otherwise every other holiday
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating required to 6 sister Med/Surg specialty units including cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc
- RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
- Charge nurse takes a full team assignment on nights and a smaller assignment on days
- Nurse aide ratios are 1:9 days and 1:12 nights
- RT equipment on unit includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2 monitoring
- Central tele monitoring located off-unit
- Self-scheduling model with 6-week advance scheduling window; same shifts not guaranteed for travel duos
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU experience required
- Experience must be within the last 1 year in a similar setting
- Drip titration experience required
- Trach and vent experience highly preferred; training available for candidates open to learning
- 2 professional references required, including at least 1 from a supervisor
- Provide direct care to neuro and trauma ortho patients including drip titration and respiratory support
- Unit-specific orientation includes 1 shift of general orientation and 1 shift with a preceptor
- Any solid color scrubs permitted
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former Marshfield employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local

$34.00 x 36 hours/wk = $1,224 - Weekly Stipends: $1,246/wk
- Lodging: $110.00 x 7 days = $770
