DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night-shift stepdown unit assignment requiring 2 years of recent acute care experience and post-cath/post-cardiac surgery skills.
Details- Acute care stepdown unit specializing in Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis (3N IMC/Tele) at a Level 2 trauma facility
- 29-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on days through 2300 and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300
- Patient population includes cardiac medical and surgical cases such as post-cath lab (stent, pacemaker, ICD, Watchman, Mitra Clip, TAVR), post-cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements), Afib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia with temporary pacemakers
- RNs are responsible for titrating drips including Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex, and Dobutamine (no vasopressors)
- 24/7 central telemetry unit monitors non-critical care patients and reads strips, so RNs are not required to interpret their own strips
- Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
- Nurse aide support available with ratios of 1:10 on days, 1:10-12 on evenings, and 1:15 after 2300
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy support for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and high‑flow Vapotherm, while RNs manage incentive spirometry
- Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic
- Night shift schedule from 1900 to 0730
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No self‑scheduling, though block scheduling may be available and a Fri/Sat/Sun option exists
- Floating required as needed based on unit census
- No call or standby requirements outside of optional extra shifts
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital environment required
- Experience with post‑procedural cath lab patients and management of TR band compression devices required
- Experience managing chest pain and post‑cardiac surgical patients required
- BSN not required for this position
- Manage a caseload of cardiac medical and surgical patients including post-cath and post-cardiac surgery cases
- Titrate cardiac drips as part of daily patient care responsibilities
- Collaborate with a 24/7 central telemetry monitoring team and respiratory therapy team
- Unit and department orientation includes 1 shift of HR onboarding and 1 shift on the unit
- No scrubs provided and no specific scrub color required
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
- Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are considered, with adjusted pay for this distance
- Former Marshfield employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration for this role
