American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 29-bed acute care unit treating ortho, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology patients on night shift.
Details- Acute care Med Surg/Tele unit (7N Ortho/Uro/Neuro) at a Level 2 trauma facility
- 29-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights
- Patient population includes ortho trauma, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, OBGYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
- Titration of drips required following prescribed nomogram, including heparin and occasionally nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and insulin
- Dedicated telemetry techs monitor strips 24/7, so RNs are not required to read their own strips
- Charge nurse takes an assignment on all shifts and house supervisor coverage is available 24/7
- Nursing assistants support the unit with varying ratios by shift
- RT support available for CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy; no ventilator management required
- Night shift schedule from
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
- Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to EPIC
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
- 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- 2 professional references required: 1 from a supervisor and 1 from a peer or supervisor
- Provide direct nursing care to a diverse patient population including ortho, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology cases
- Collaborate with telemetry techs, charge nurses, house supervisors, nursing assistants, and respiratory therapists as part of the care team
- Unit-specific orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation
- No self-scheduling; block scheduling provided based on staffing needs
- Scrubs may be any color as long as clean and professional
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
- Former permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration and require facility approval to return
- Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local with a reduced pay rate
