Job Description

The Wood County Human Services Department, Family Services Division, has an immediate opening for a Case Manager/Social Worker – Youth Justice. This role works with youth referred for delinquent acts, truancy, and runaways, collaborating with schools, courts, law enforcement, treatment and service providers to provide interventions that hold youth accountable while offering treatment. The goal is to encourage engagement in pro‑social activities, promote positive relationships and social behaviors, and reduce recidivism.

Responsibilities
  • Use Social Work methods, principles, strengths‑based approaches, evidence‑based tools, and interviewing techniques to engage youth, determine needs, and develop case plans. Develop a cooperative relationship with community partners and assist families to obtain optimum benefits.
  • Complete juvenile intake inquiries, thorough assessments, and ongoing case management services for youth and families referred to Youth Justice.
  • Provide services to youth with complex trauma histories, behavioral, and mental health concerns.
  • Prepare for and provide court testimony.
  • Manage workload to ensure compliance with required paperwork:
    Court Reports, eWiSACWIS documentation per Wisconsin State Statutes, Youth Justice Standards, Ongoing Services Standards, and internal processes.
  • Utilize evidence‑informed or evidence‑based methods to maintain youth in their home environment and local community.
  • Operate as a team member with the youth mentor, treatment service providers, community partners, and other support staff.
  • Participate in a rotating paid on‑call system to respond to emergent situations outside traditional business hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Know and practice the County’s Safety policies and perform all job tasks safely.
  • Familiarize with and exemplify the Wood County Core Values and serve with courtesy and respect in accordance with the Wood County Code of Conduct.
  • Other Duties
  • Provide appropriate services and interventions to juveniles who may be referred for sexual offenses.
  • Attend department staff meetings, relevant training, education, and supervisory conferences.
  • Demonstrate the ability to constructively utilize training, education, and administrative consultation provided.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Non‑Certified: Minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a directly related field. Basic everyday living skills, ability to understand and follow instructions, reading and writing proficiency for reports, and oral and written communication skills are required. Position requires travel to and from off‑campus sites. Valid driver’s license and a licensed, insured automobile or other reliable transportation required.

    Certified: Minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a directly related field. Possession of, or eligibility for, Social Work Certification in accordance with Wisconsin Chapter 457.08 is preferred. Wage will depend on education, certification, and experience. Same basic living skills, communication, travel, and transportation requirements apply.
