Military Science Instructor (MSI) will teach effectively in indoor classrooms and field training settings, presenting standardized instruction and creative workshops. Contractor personnel will demonstrate instructor ability in military field training exercises and be able to live/instruct in a field environment for extended periods during training exercises.

• Provide military science instruction, group and/or individual training, field instruction and training in accordance with Cadet Command’s POI, syllabus, and other ROTC‑directed or emerging training in various settings on and off campus, including field environments.
  • Use mixed media visual aids and innovative methods to teach learning objectives and ensure students are properly tested and apply theory in practice during assessments outside the classroom.
  • Provide expert training on Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills, small unit tactics, and physical fitness.
  • Coach, teach, and prepare competitive cadet teams for ranger challenge, drill team, and color guard.
  • Instruct cadets on the leader/officer‑to‑NCO relationship in garrison and combat environments from the NCO perspective.
  • Instruct and prepare cadets on receiving and executing written and verbal plans, concepts, and crisis/contingency management.
• Cadet Summer Training (CST) – support CST for approximately 40 days at Fort Knox, KY.
• Assist Government personnel in marketing/recruiting efforts at events such as freshman orientations, college fairs, parades, and similar events.
  • Gather information on cadet prospects and help develop handouts to market Army ROTC.
  • Participate in and support events such as student orientation, campus tours, and community outreach.
  • Provide information to prospects and centers of influence about Army ROTC participation, training, and commissioning as an officer.
  • Assist Government personnel with inventory and distribution of supplies.
• Transport ROTC personnel, cadets, students, supplies, and materials in conjunction with training exercises and other ROTC events such as recruiting/marketing and sustainment operations. (Requires a valid vehicle operator’s license, completion of the “Accident Avoidance” training, 15‑pax van training, and proof of insurance). Contractor personnel are subject to pecuniary liability for causing loss, damage, or destruction of Government vehicles, in accordance with AR 735‑5 Property Accountability Policies.

This position does not have any direct reports.

Primarily indoor classroom. Some instruction may occur outdoors or offsite, including Ranger Challenge, Color Guard, Leadership Labs, and Field Training Exercises. Recruiting events may require travel and could involve outdoor settings.
