Job Description

The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Assistant Director of Alumni Programming the University of Tennessee, Martin. Reporting to the AVC for Alumni Relations, Chief Engagement Officer, the Assistant Director of Alumni Programming is responsible for executing strategic planning, program development, fiscal development, and marketing strategies for Alumni Relations events and programs.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program Development & Alumni Engagement

Develop a variety of programs designed to promote the University and expand alumni support across national, regional, and local bases. Create and identify new initiatives that strengthen alumni connections to the University. Coordinate email campaigns through the online community to promote events and programs for the Office of Alumni Relations.

Regional Volunteer Leadership

Identify, recruit, and cultivate enthusiasm among regional alumni groups (Alumni Ambassadors) to integrate their involvement with the University. Coordinate all events planned by these regional groups, and set goals, outcomes, and processes for alumni involvement subject to leadership approval. Oversee the Young Alumni Council and serve as its staff liaison.

Event & Cross-Departmental Collaboration

Assist in planning reunion and homecoming events to strengthen alumni engagement. Collaborate with department heads and development staff on alumni programming, including alumni events and regional initiatives tied to special University priorities.

Qualifications Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education, business, alumni or constituent engagement, event or program coordination, customer service, relationship management, or a related field
  • 2+ years of management experience

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.

Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 1 year of experience.

Preferred Education And Experience
  • Master’s degree
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education, business, alumni or constituent engagement, event or program coordination, customer service, relationship management, or a related field

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.
