Contra Costa Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to manage the procurement of electrical materials, tools, and equipment for commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in the electrical contracting industry and a strong understanding of vendor relations, inventory control, and project timelines.

Essential duties and responsibilities include sourcing and purchasing electrical materials based on project specifications and submittals, evaluating suppliers for cost, availability, and delivery performance, maintaining accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and invoices, collaborating with project managers and field teams to ensure timely material deliveries, tracking orders from date of issue to delivery, resolving discrepancies in shipments and invoices, ensuring compliance with company purchasing policies and OSHPD requirements, collaborating with project teams and estimating to provide submittal documentation, partnering with teams to request quotes from vendors and review for accuracy, and ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Qualifications include 1–3 years of purchasing experience in the electrical or construction industry, proficiency in procurement and invoicing software and Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge and skills include business writing and reporting skills, knowledge of electrical materials and construction workflows.

Required competencies include maintaining excellent communications and working relationships with multiple levels of employees, management, suppliers, and customers, complying with EMCOR's values, business code of conduct, and business ethics, prioritizing, problem solving, multi-tasking and planning/organization to meet deadlines, receiving direction and then working independently with an interest in quickly learning and applying new skills and abilities, demonstrating consistent ability to be dependable, consistent, diligent, and thorough, being self-motivated, dependable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and having high standards of quality with attention to detail.

Language skills must include the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English and collaborate with employees, vendors, and suppliers.

Physical demands include sitting, seeing, talking, and hearing, communicating verbally and in writing one on one, in small groups, as well as presenting to larger groups of employees, working at a computer for extended periods of time, moving within the office to retrieve files and meet with employees in their offices or conference room, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, or crouching, occasionally lifting and/or moving up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
