Position Title
Dean of Social Sciences – Diablo Valley College
OverviewThe Dean of Social Sciences oversees the Social Sciences Interest Area, including Administration of Justice, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Economics, Ethnic Studies, History, Journalism, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Science. The Dean also manages the Children’s Center, and the Social Sciences and English Student Center, integrating student services and instruction to offer wrap‑around services. The role involves ensuring student‑centered programs meet the needs of a diverse student population, comply with state and federal regulations, meet budget goals, and manage scheduling and enrollment.
The position requires a strong commitment to social and racial justice, with an emphasis on closing equity gaps and respecting the perspectives of all students. Candidates from historically marginalized and/or underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
