Our subsidiary, Ecoservices, is on the hunt for a Reliability Engineer for the West Coast
Under the general direction of the Director of Reliability, the Reliability Engineer will provide advanced knowledge and technical expertise to deploy continuous improvement in process and asset reliability through the detection and elimination of defects. This role will partner with and support Operations and Maintenance through identification and reduction and/or elimination of production losses and high maintenance cost assets to promote plant objectives in the areas of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE), asset capability, quality, and production.
The Reliability Engineer role will focus on the longer‑term (2+ years) strategic implementation of plant asset reliability improvements. It will focus on the West Coast plants and also provide support across the Network as needed.
The base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $155,000 annually. Compensation may fall outside this range depending on factors such as qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
Must be local to the Long Beach or Martinez, CA site.

Most of the work will be based out of Long Beach for the first year.
Responsibilities- Lead the development, design and installation of predictive maintenance programs and technology applications to identify dominant deterioration and failure modes, causes/effects of deterioration, and corrective actions required to eliminate defects.
- Analyze maintenance data to identify trends in equipment performance that adversely affect Safety, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, or costs to establish a list of “Bad Actors” that will become the primary focus of driving improved reliability.
- Drive the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as Asset Utilization, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), On‑Stream Time (OST), and benchmark performance against best‑in‑class, track progress, and measure improvements.
- Conduct analysis/investigations and provide leadership to others in Failure Mode & Effects Analysis & Root Cause Analysis on equipment failures that significantly affect Safety, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), or costs. Ensure the results from this analysis become the basis for the applicable Equipment Maintenance Strategies.
- Assist with the management of the company’s Mechanical Integrity (MI) Program and ensure that all required testing and new work follows state and federal code requirements, as well as Eco Services’ expectations and Best Practices. Close gaps identified quickly to drive compliance and long‑term value.
- Develop a comprehensive Spare Parts Strategy and create accurate Bill of Materials for new spare parts.
- Review and provide technical input into capital projects, including the management of the maintenance portion of the Early Equipment Care program.
- Support plants in the field implementation of all the above strategies, and when requested during times of major unplanned equipment failures.
- Support Operations and Maintenance on troubleshooting failures, repairs and evaluating whether the equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
- During PM work, closely follow jobs to ensure that repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc. are provided and documented. Provide technical support and involve asset subject matter experts and suppliers/vendors as needed.
- Visible field presence during planned TA to work with Maintenance Engineers to perform field inspections of major equipment, and to collect data to verify adequacy of FMEAs, Equipment Strategies, and PM frequencies, and make adjustments/updates where necessary.
- Represent the West Coast plants and actively participate in Reliability Network meetings, sharing strategies and leveraging learning from others.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical engineering preferred.
