PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating refineries and related facilities through its subsidiaries. We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented pipefitter/boilermaker mechanic to join our team. The role plays a pivotal part in routine maintenance activities such as removal and installation of piping, valving, tubing fabrication, and mechanical equipment repairs on process equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform bolted flange joint assemblies (BFJA) according to ASME and site standards, using torquing equipment such as RAD Guns, Hy Torque and Slim Lines.
- Follow site procedures and pipe specifications to identify sizes, types, and related materials, including supports, hangers, gaskets, and equipment components.
- Perform lock‑out tag‑out (LOTO) for intrusive mechanical maintenance work, including installing system blinds and removing system components.
- Conduct hydrostatic testing on piping systems and equipment; work on exchangers and bundles, removing channel heads, installing blinds, and hydro‑testing bundles.
- Safely operate hand and power tools such as saws, grinders, impact wrenches, pipe threaders, and pipe benders.
- Proficiently cut, bend, thread, and install tubing.
- Read and create pipe system isometric drawings for installation according to specifications and work direction.
4-10 work schedule with potential for rotating shift work, including holiday, night, and weekend coverage. Callout/standby coverage may be required occasionally, and an altered work schedule over an extended period may be required.
Physical Requirements- Climb ladders.
- Walk up and down steps.
- Work at heights, in compact and confined spaces, outdoors in inclement weather.
- Wear a respirator, Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), or Self‑Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of pipe fitting/boilermaker/refinery mechanic experience.
- Experience in a petrochemical or refinery environment.
- Journeyman‑level abilities.
- Knowledge of exchanger, piping, and tubing systems.
- Passing of pre‑employment testing and successful completion of physical agility test, background check, and drug/alcohol screening.

- Position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers (USW) International Union AFL-CIO, CLC and Martinez Refining Company LLC.
