Job Overview

Machinist Mechanic PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America. This role is based at our Martinez Refinery in California and focuses on maintaining process equipment and machinery including pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, motors, fans, blowers, valves, and specialty equipment.

• Maintain, repair, and overhaul process rotating machinery in a safe and efficient manner in both shop and field environments.
• Set up and operate machine tools—including manual and CNC lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, cylindrical and surface grinders—to manufacture and repair parts to specifications.
• Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, protractors, and indicators.
• Interpret tolerances and dimensions from drawings, sketches, and engineering documents.
• Operate shop support equipment, e.g., saws, forklifts, overhead cranes, hydraulic presses, bearing heaters, and torches.

Work schedule:

9/80 with participation in call‑out coverage. Occasionally an altered work schedule over an extended period may be required for maintenance outages and turnarounds.

High school diploma or GED and at least 4 years of Machinist/Mechanical journeyman‑level experience.

• Union or company apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
• Trade school completion with journeyman level machinist certification
• Previous refinery or chemical plant experience

Passing of pre‑employment testing, successful completion of a physical agility test, a physical exam, a background check, and a drug/alcohol screening. Only candidates meeting the above requirements will be considered.

The pay rate for this position is $55.33 per hour based on qualification requirements in the collective bargaining agreement.

Covered under the agreement between United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers (USW) International Union AFL‑CIO, CLC and the Martinez Refining Company LLC.
