Irrigation Technician

Position Summary

Responsible for the production of assigned irrigation repairs or incidental work as directed by the Irrigation Manager, Account Manager, or Field Supervisor. This is a hands on position and includes the responsibility of assisting in the work and setting a position example of behavior, attitude and work ethic.

• Produce irrigation repairs and other incidental irrigation and water management work.
• Accurately diagnose irrigation equipment problems.
• Excavate with skill and know where to dig.
• Communicate using industry terms.
• Follow common diagnostic instructions from senior specialist during field communications.
• Program the following controllers and understand their working/default modes:
  Irritrol MC series, MC+A, MC+B, Dial A/B, Rain master Centar and Evolution series.
• Have basic knowledge of irrigation design, pipe class, valve identification (Hardie 100, Series 700, Weathermatic all plastic series, Rainbird DV series).
• Identify head types:
  Hunter PGP, PGH, I series, Toro 570 and Rainbird 1800 series.
• Identify and use nozzle types.
• Understand basic hydraulics: valve size, flow demand, static and dynamic PSI and how they affect performance.
• Assist in performing irrigation system checks and repairs or upgrades for proper coverage and efficient water utilization.
• Assist in repairs of large scale irrigation breaks, main line repairs, valve repairs and replacements, track electrical shorts in remote controller programs as well as lateral line repairs, irrigation head replacements and adjustments.
