Position OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Research and Formulation Chemist to lead the creation, development, and optimization of aerosol and liquid products. This role blends innovative research with hands-on formulation work, bridging early discovery through commercial manufacturing.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable exploring new chemistries in the lab and ensuring formulations scale reliably, safely, and cost-effectively in production.
Key Responsibilities- Research and Innovation
:
Evaluate new raw materials, technologies, and chemistries aligned with customer needs and company innovation priorities - Research and Innovation
:
Design and execute experiments using data-driven methodologies, including DOE, stability testing, performance testing, and compatibility analysis - Research and Innovation
:
Identify opportunities for technical differentiation and intellectual property - Formulation and Development
:
Develop new formulations and reformulate existing products to meet performance, cost, sustainability, and regulatory targets - Formulation and Development
:
Interpret data and produce clear, technically sound reports and recommendations - Formulation and Development
:
Optimize formulations for manufacturability, scale-up robustness, and cost efficiency - Formulation and Development
:
Lead pilot plant trials and production scale-up, including risk assessment and troubleshooting - Cross-Functional Collaboration
:
Partner with Operations, Quality, and Regulatory to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and relevant industry standards - Cross-Functional Collaboration
:
Serve as a senior technical resource for customers and internal stakeholders - Cross-Functional Collaboration
:
Maintain high-quality technical documentation - Leadership and Program Ownership
:
Mentor junior technical staff and elevate formulation rigor and documentation standards - Leadership and Program Ownership

Act as technical lead for key programs from concept through commercialization - Leadership and Program Ownership

Drive innovation and continuous improvement across products and processes
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- 7 to 12 or more years of hands-on formulation or applied R&D experience
- Experience in aerosol, coatings, adhesives, or related industries preferred
- Strong understanding of experimental design and DOE principles
- Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; LIMS experience is a plus
- Full-time onsite role in Martinsburg, West Virginia
- Monday through Friday schedule
- Work performed in laboratory and manufacturing environments
