Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Telemetry assignment requiring 5 years of RN experience, a compact or WV RN license, and advanced cardiac certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care telemetry unit with 20 private beds
- Telemetry patient population includes a variety of medical/surgical cases and patients requiring cardiac monitoring or post-catheterization care
- Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:5 for telemetry
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Electronic charting is done with Epic EMR;
Epic experience is preferred - No on-call required
- Floating may occur to other telemetry or med/surg units, or to support admitted patients in other areas
- Responsibilities include providing cardiac monitoring, titrating heparin, reconstituting antibiotics, and reviewing telemetry strips
- Charge nurse and PCT support are available on the unit
- Pharmacist, respiratory therapy, and provider coverage are present 24/7
- Orientation is provided with a blend of educational modules, shadowing, and unit introduction
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- No ventilators on unit; various O2 delivery methods used
- Point of care testing with Accu Chek and barcode scanning is utilized
- All candidates must complete EKG testing modules for consideration
- First-day traveler tasks include obtaining a badge and parking pass before unit orientation
- Travelers may be asked to precept or function as charge nurse based on comfort level
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- At least 1 year of prior travel nursing experience required
- Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
- Driver’s license required
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility address
- Previous permanent employees or travelers at this system must have a 2-year break
