Nurse III primarily treats residents with geriatric disorders, medical problems, and mental health conditions. They are trained in basic nursing care and further education in managing residents across varying levels of acute, chronic, or degenerative conditions, including dementia. A Nurse III is usually assigned a caseload of specific residents, overseeing direct care, medication schedules, and social and emotional support. The role includes evaluating residents’ progress, dispensing medication, and collaborating with interdisciplinary professionals to provide individualized care.

Nurses maintain a safe environment through monitoring systems and interventions. The position also involves evaluating subordinate employees, sharing administrative duties with the Nursing Director, and may require shift work. All related duties are performed as required.

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited four‑year college or university and two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience as a registered professional nurse.
• OR successful completion of an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma nursing program and three years of experience as a registered professional nurse.
• OR professional certification from a recognized national nursing certifying organization as a nurse or nurse practitioner in the area of assignment plus two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience as a registered professional nurse.
• OR successful completion of an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma nursing program; plus a baccalaureate degree in the health sciences or behavioral sciences and two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in nursing.
• OR master’s degree in nursing from an accredited four‑year college or university.
• Special Requirement:
  Current West Virginia license or temporary permit to practice as a registered professional nurse.
