American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring 2 years of experience and night shift availability with rotating weekends.

• Acute care hospital setting on a PCU/Telemetry unit
• Unit consists of a 20-bed all-private-room floor and a 22-bed floor with private and semi-private rooms
• Patient population includes elevated troponin, active chest pain, pre/post cardiac catheterization, post-STEMI, NSTEMI, pacers, and occasional post-surgical or oncology patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 for both day and night shifts
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Uses Phillips Cardiac Monitors with central monitoring station
• Nurses review telemetry strips every 4 hours and document rhythm review in the patient chart
• Manages drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, Integrilin, and Nitro per protocol (set-rate only)
• Ventilator support (Bipap, Cpap, High Flow) managed by Respiratory Therapy, which is in-house 24/7
• Night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week (7pm-7:30am), with 48 hr/week contract option available
• Rotating weekends required (Fri/Sat for nights, Sat/Sun for days) on an every-other-weekend basis
• Rotating holiday coverage based on unit needs
• Rare floating, primarily involving ICU staff floating to overflow tele or Ortho/Med Surg
• Opportunities available for Charge Nurse and Precepting roles
• Hospitalist coverage in-house 24/7 and Pharmacy in-house 24/7 with Omnicell on the unit

• Active RN license (WV or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

• Provide telemetry-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, strip review, and drip management
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue with navy or white jacket, white or navy undershirt, natural hair color only (no pink/purple/blue), and tattoos must be covered if distasteful
• COVID vaccination required, with medical or religious exemption forms available upon request
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
• Previous permanent staff or travelers who completed a full year at any WVU Medicine facility must wait 2 years before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than a cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• EKG testing may be required as part of the pass/fail assessment process for this unit
• Floor-specific orientation of 1-2 shifts depending on experience level
