SUMMARYWe are seeking responsible and vigilant lifeguards to ensure the safety of all swimmers and guests at our pool facilities. This role involves monitoring the facility, enforcing safety rules, maintaining a clean environment, exceptional customer service and responding to emergencies. You would be required to have a valid lifeguard certification (including deep water) with CPR/AED and first aid. You must have flexibility to work daytime, evenings and/or weekends at both War Memorial Park Pool and Lambert Pool.

Requirements- 15 years of age or older (age 15 are required to have an approved age certificate)
- A valid lifeguard certification (including deep water) with CPR/AED and first aid
- Reliable childcare and transportation
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights/weekends

- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently
- Remain alert with no lapses in consciousness
- Ability to hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility
- Ability to tread water and swim for long periods of time
- Minimum hearing threshold of no more than an average of 25-decibel loss in both ears over a range of frequencies
- Hearing aids or other corrective devices for hearing should be able to perform all rescue skills and emergency procedures without interruptions to adjust, retrieve, or install or attach a hearing aid or corrective device
- Corrective eyewear should be able to perform all rescue skills and emergency procedures without interruptions to adjust, clear, or retrieve corrective eyewear
- Knowledge of basic math; ability to prepare reports on headcount for patrons and special events
- Monitor Swimming Areas – Constantly observe swimmers to ensure their safety and enforce facility rules to prevent accidents
- Respond to Emergencies – Act quickly in emergencies by performing rescues, administering CPR/First Aid, and contacting emergency services when necessary
- Enforce Safety Rules – Educate patrons on safety guidelines and enforce pool rules to maintain a secure environment
- Perform Routine Safety Checks – Inspect pool equipment, water conditions, bathrooms/locker rooms, and surrounding areas to ensure everything meets safety and cleanly standards
- Provide First Aid – Assist with minor injuries and provide basic medical care as needed until professional help arrives
- Maintain a Clean Environment – Help keep the facility clean and organized. Disinfect areas when necessary.
- Communicate with Guests and Staff – provide friendly customer service, answer questions, and communicate with staff and supervisors
- Attend Trainings – Participate in regular mandatory trainings to stay updated on lifeguarding techniques, emergency procedures, and safety regulations
- Handle Incidents and Incident Reports – Document any accidents, rule violations, or safety concerns and report them to supervisors as needed
- Must hold a valid current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, including CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid certification or equivalent.
- Working toward G.E.D or High School Diploma
- External environment: variety of weather conditions to include humidity, rain, and heat
Scheduling for this position can be up to 40 hours a week. Overtime can be given when necessary. Shifts may include daytime, evenings and/or weekend.
PAY SCALE- Lifeguard 1:
First year lifeguard; less than a year experience. $16.00/hour - Lifeguard 2:
Second year lifeguard; more than a year experience. $17.00/hour - Lifeguard 3:
Third year lifeguard; more than two years' experience. $18.00/hour - Lifeguard 4: 1st year lead guard; more than three years' experience. $20.00/hour
- Lifeguard 5: 2nd year & up lead guard; more than one year lead guard experience. $21.50/hour
