Rate of Pay: $13.24 Hourly (25-30 hours per week)
Schedule:
The Senior Center’s hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The employee must be available to report promptly at 7:30 a.m. three to four days per week.
This is a part-time position involving clerical and driver-dispatching duties performed under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator/Director of Public Works. Work is performed under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator, who provides instructions regarding new assignments, policies, and procedures, as well as advice and assistance as needed. The position involves performing general administrative and secretarial tasks, multitasking, and providing support for transportation operations, including but not limited to:
- Communicating with drivers by telephone and hand-held radio
- Maintaining records, filing documents, and retrieving confidential personnel information
- Utilizing computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Performing data entry and maintaining accurate and organized records
- Work requires the exercise of initiative, independent judgement, discretion & confidentiality in handling delegated details
- Assisting/advising
Senior Services drivers and preparing daily trip schedules in the absence of the Transportation Coordinator - Responsible for reporting any type of accidents and/or incidents concerning the Senior Services program in the absence of the Transportation Coordinator
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including maintaining a clean and orderly work area, removing trash, and assisting with cleanup following Senior Center activities
- High School Diploma (or the equivalent)
- Valid Virginia driver's license
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, public, and Senior Center clients. Must deal with public relations problems courteously and tactfully
- Ability to effectively use & operate various items of office related equipment, such as but not limited to computer, calculator, scanner, copier, andfax machine
- Ability to verbally communicate in an effective manner with the public and employees using the telephone, two-way radio, and through personal contact
- Ability to understand and follow City purchasing and personnel policies and procedures
