Substitute Teacher & Substitute Paraprofessional

Under the direction of the building principal, the substitute teacher serves to provide instruction, supervision and classroom management in the absence of the classroom teacher.

Essential functions include:

• Reporting to the office to sign in upon arrival; signs in, obtains any lesson plans, keys, substitute badge, etc.
• Guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
• Maintaining, to the extent possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Providing instruction according to lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
• Creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation, pertaining to teachers and students.
• Serving as a role model for professionalism and appropriate behavior for students.
• Performing other tasks as assigned.

Required education is a minimum of a high school diploma.

Preferred education includes an associate's degree from an accredited college or university or completion of 48 college credit hours from an accredited college or university or passing score on the Para Pro examination.

Minimum age to apply for this position is 21 years.

Physical requirements include sedentary work, some light work, reaching, standing, fingering, grasping, repetitive motions, vocal communication, hearing, and visual acuity.

Salary range varies based on experience and education level.

FLSA classification is Non-Exempt.
