Job Description

Accountant

A company in Laurel is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Accountant to support their accounting and financial reporting functions. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and assisting with audits and compliance activities. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This postion will start with 4 days in office and will transition to 3 days in office after the training period is complete.

Salary range is $65-72k, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Identify process improvements and support special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint (formerly Deltek Vision) preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
