Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Location: Williamsport

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a contract basis in Williamsport, Maryland. This role will support critical financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounting processes for a subsidiary within the fire protection industry. The position offers an opportunity to work closely with the finance team to optimize workflows and contribute to construction-related accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the month-end closing process to deliver timely and precise financial reports.

- Prepare and post journal entries while overseeing general ledger operations.

- Conduct bank and account reconciliations using Sage Intacct.

- Address multi-state payroll accounting challenges and ensure compliance.

- Support the documentation and improvement of new accounting procedures.

- Assist in generating Work In Progress (WIP) reports and handle construction-related accounting responsibilities.

- Collaborate with on-site finance and accounting teams to provide necessary assistance.

- Ensure smooth integration and troubleshooting during system transitions.

- Maintain organization and attention to detail in all accounting tasks. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

- Demonstrated expertise in month-end closing, journal entries, and reconciliations within a multi-entity environment.

- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.

- Knowledge of multi-state payroll systems and construction accounting practices.

- Familiarity with Work In Progress (WIP) reporting is highly preferred.

- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, on-site environment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related financial tools.
