Job Description

We are seeking a detailed‑oriented and experienced controller to join our team. Must have subcontractor commercial construction industry experience. The ideal candidate will support the financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities
  • Work with staff to manage accounting processes, general ledger, income/expense allocation, and account reconciliation.
  • Make necessary journal entries and prepare timely, accurate financial statements using Timberline/Sage 300.
  • Primary responsibility for contract and job cost accounting on percentage‑of‑completion basis, including preparation of monthly AIA invoices.
  • Cash flow management, reporting, and projections.
  • Maintain banking relationships.
  • Prepare financial budgets and projections, working closely with company management to plan for growth.
  • Oversee in‑house payroll function and/or assist with outsourcing.
Requirements
  • Minimum 7 years of on‑the‑job accounting experience in the commercial construction industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Timberline/Sage 300.
  • Full understanding of financial statements preparation.
  • Ability to multi‑task and manage a small staff.
  • Ability to work independently, foster a team environment, remain flexible, and work in a fast‑paced changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be located in Urbana office daily.
