Cost Accountant

Cost Accountant – $85,000 – $105,000 (Hanover, MD – Hybrid Flexibility)

Our client, an established electrical manufacturer in Hanover, Maryland, is seeking a Cost Accountant to support manufacturing operations by analyzing product costs, maintaining inventory accuracy, and providing financial insights that drive business performance.

• Analyze and maintain standard costing for manufactured products.
• Monitor inventory transactions and ensure inventory accuracy.
• Perform variance analysis related to labor, materials, overhead, and production activities.
• Assist with month‑end close, including inventory and cost accounting entries.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Partner with operations leadership to identify cost‑saving opportunities and process improvements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
• Develop and maintain reporting related to manufacturing performance and profitability.
• Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle‑count programs.
• Support audits and special projects as needed.

• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and standard costing.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively across finance and operational teams.
• Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
