Staff Accountant

Location: Linthicum Heights

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant. This Long-term Contract opportunity focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, completing account reconciliations, and contributing to smooth monthly and year-end close activities. The ideal candidate brings a solid accounting foundation, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities:

- Review balance sheet and general ledger accounts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to confirm accuracy.

- Prepare reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts and follow through on outstanding items until they are fully resolved.

- Research discrepancies and coordinate with internal teams to correct errors in a timely manner.

- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles by posting journal entries, recording accruals, and maintaining accounting documentation.

- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives, including accounting-related support for system or software updates when applicable.

- Assist with additional accounting and finance duties as assigned to meet department needs.

Requirements

- At least 2 years of accounting or finance experience with strong exposure to general ledger reconciliation.

- Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices, including GAAP-based concepts.

- Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.

- Ability to investigate complex accounting issues, analyze financial data, and resolve discrepancies independently.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for account analysis, reconciliation support, and reporting tasks.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; equivalent experience with relevant accounting coursework will also be considered.
