Staff/Senior Accountant Opportunity

We are partnering with a large, established U.S. manufacturer to identify a Staff or Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. The organization operates multiple manufacturing facilities across the United States and supports large-scale commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects nationwide. This is a hands-on accounting position with significant exposure to fixed assets, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory, revenue recognition, and operational accounting.

The individual will work closely with both finance and operations and will have the opportunity to take ownership of increasingly complex areas of the balance sheet. The position can be structured at either the Staff or Senior Accountant level, depending upon experience.

At the Staff level, the role will have a heavier concentration in fixed assets and CAPEX. At the Senior level, responsibilities will expand into broader close ownership, balance sheet reconciliations, technical accounting, and audit support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fixed Assets & CAPEX:
Take ownership of key aspects of the company's fixed asset and CAPEX lifecycle. Record asset additions, disposals, transfers, impairments, and depreciation. Maintain and reconcile fixed asset and construction-in-process accounts. Review maintenance, expense, and capital accounts for potential CAPEX/OPEX misclassifications. Prepare adjusting journal entries and monthly CAPEX reporting. Partner with plant personnel and operational stakeholders regarding capital expenditures and capitalization criteria.
  • Month-End Close & General Accounting:
Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Prepare and upload journal entries, accruals, and other period-end adjustments. Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, payroll, cash, debt, inventory, and other assigned accounts. Prepare P&L fluctuation and variance analyses. Maintain clear, professional work papers and accounting documentation. Assist management in resolving accounting and financial reporting issues.
  • Manufacturing & Revenue Accounting:
Support accounting for inventory and manufacturing operations. Analyze project revenue, costs, and profitability to support appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606. Assist with percentage-of-completion/project-based accounting where applicable. Partner with operations to understand underlying business activity and ensure accurate financial reporting. Assist with physical inventories and related reconciliations.
  • Audit, Controls & Systems:
Support external audits and serve as an important internal resource throughout the audit process. Maintain accounting processes in accordance with GAAP and established internal controls. Document key accounting policies and procedures. Participate in the development, testing, and implementation of accounting systems and reporting tools. Support ongoing Microsoft Dynamics / ERP initiatives. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, special projects, and ad hoc financial analysis.

Ideal Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. CPA or CPA track strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is highly desirable, particularly candidates coming from a mid-sized, regional, national, or Big Four audit environment.
  • For Senior-level consideration, an ideal candidate may have recently completed their first busy season as a Senior and had responsibility for managing significant portions of an audit engagement.
  • Corporate accounting candidates with strong manufacturing experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with inventory, fixed assets, CAPEX, or manufacturing accounting highly desirable. Percentage-of-completion/project accounting or ASC 606 exposure is a plus.
  • Strong month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation experience. Microsoft Dynamics experience is a significant plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial controls. Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IFERROR, pivot tables, and related accounting functions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to communicate effectively with finance, operations, plant personnel, auditors, and senior leadership.

What Makes This Opportunity Attractive:

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who wants to move beyond transactional accounting and gain broader exposure to a sophisticated manufacturing organization. The role provides exposure to fixed assets, inventory, operational accounting, ASC 606, month-end close, audit, ERP implementation, and multiple areas of the balance sheet, creating a strong foundation for continued advancement within corporate accounting. For someone coming from public accounting, it offers a particularly strong entry point into industry while continuing to use the analytical, audit, GAAP, and financial statement skills developed in public accounting.

Bottom Line:
This is a hands-on Staff/Senior Accountant opportunity for…
