Bookkeeper

Description

We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to support a government contracting client in Hanover, Maryland. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in full-cycle bookkeeping, especially within construction-related environments, and can manage financial activities with accuracy and independence.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping activities, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner.

- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including reviewing, entering, and coding invoices correctly.

- Perform monthly close support by preparing financial statements and assisting with period-end reporting tasks.

- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card transactions, cash activity, and vendor statements to ensure clean and balanced records.

- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies independently, escalating issues only when necessary.

- Support the office manager through periodic onsite collaboration and financial record maintenance.

- Maintain organized documentation and accounting data within the company's financial systems and spreadsheets.

Requirements

- Background in construction accounting is strongly preferred.

- Hands-on experience with Sage 300 or Sage Timberline is highly preferred.

- Practical knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close activities.

- Demonstrated ability to complete bank, cash, credit card, and vendor reconciliations accurately.

- Strong Excel skills for tracking, analysis, and financial record management.

- Ability to work independently and investigate discrepancies with minimal supervision.

-This is a parttime position that requires a minimal amount of onsite work.
