Overview
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has an immediate opening for a Legal Administrator in its Legal and Regulatory Affairs department. This position drafts straightforward legal documents and correspondence for filing with administrative agencies. As the Legal Administrator you will also be responsible for coordinating conferences, meetings, and appointments, maintaining confidential files, assisting with preparing monthly progress reports, and supervising support personnel.

QualificationsThis position requires a two-year college degree or equivalent relevant experience. Emphasis in a legal assistant program and executive or administrative assistant program is preferred. Also preferred are supplemental courses and/or practical experience in legal research and writing. Advanced training in business administration and management is preferred.
Candidates are required to have a minimum of five years’ progressive experience as a legal secretary, legal assistant, or executive or administrative assistant. Work experience with regulatory law or an electric utility or similar business is desired. Knowledge of legal processes and procedures, legal terminology, and research methods is heavily desired. Strong organizational skills required. Knowledge of general office procedures and advanced Word and Excel skills are also desired.
Supervisory experience desired.
The starting salary range for this position is $83,000-$107,600. SMECO offers an excellent benefits program including a 401(k) 6% dollar-for-dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.
