Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College's fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.
Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland's most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.
With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes.

Job Summary:The Student Life office is looking for a responsible Student Life Assistant to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Duties of the Office Assistant include providing support to the Student Life department, overseeing the Campus Food Pantry, assisting in daily office needs and managing our departmental general administrative activities, programs and events.
Essential Job Functions:- Oversee the day-to-day management of the Campus Food Pantry and Grab and Go Stations.
- Coordinate the SNAP coach program.
- Interface with students, faculty, and staff and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Answer and direct phone calls.
- Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
- Develop and maintain filing system.
- Order supplies and conduct office inventories.
- Maintain contact lists and initiate timely follow up.
- Update information in Cecil Connect, Colleague and Cecil College website.
- Collaborate with Marketing to assist with publications and social media platforms
- Assist with facilitating student life activities, programs and events, including set up and clean up.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
- Administrative Assistant or Office Assistant experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
Monday-Friday between hours of 8:00 am
-4:30 pm. 20-25 hours per week.
This position requires lifting of food pantry items that may at time be up to 20 pounds. This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving.
