Temporary Election Clerk
A temporary vacancy exists in the Board of Elections. A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below. List all promotions and changes in job duties due to reclassification as separate work experiences on your application. Applicants must include the dates of the promotions and reclassifications.

Under general supervision, performs comprehensive clerical work in support of a County program or agency.
- Assists in the hiring of election judges and schedule their training
- Assists in proofreading processed batches of registration.
- Prioritizes data processing tasks to assure timely completion in accordance with office policies and procedures.
- Responsible for voter registrations applications.
- Assists with special projects including – mass mailings, petitions, redistricting, verifications, voter education, canvass election, packing judge supplies and surveys.
- Maintains and secures files daily.
- Assists with the preparation and the conduct of elections to meet all deadlines to include but not limited to: processing voter registration, provisional ballots, record retention, reports, certificates and other information in accordance with Local, State and Federal laws.
- Operates office machinery, photocopiers, fax machines, and calculators.
- Updates and maintains filing systems, lists, log books and rosters.
- Answers routine inquiries from the public, or directs inquiries to proper agency.
Examples of Other Duties Collects and compiles technical data and prepares summary statistics. Performs occasional light typing or word processing. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsPossession of a high school diploma or an appropriate high school equivalency plus one year's general clerical experience. (Additional experience as described in the essential duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Additional education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.) Examination Procedure Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions.
Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
Must be available to work 40 hours/week with some mandatory overtime on evenings and weekends during the Election year. The work of this position involves special physical demands such as lifting 50 pounds or more, climbing ladders, etc. Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.
