Office Manager

Are you passionate about leading, organizing, and creating amazing experiences for youth? Join us as a staff member at Camp Conowingo! We are located in Conowingo, Maryland on 600 acres of wooded land near the Susquehanna River. At camp you will guide campers through activities, foster an environment of belonging, and get to spend time in community while connecting with nature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Act as the “face” of camp by maintaining an upbeat and positive campy persona when answering questions and concerns for parents, campers and staff. Check in all visitors to camp and maintain the visitor’s log.
  • Head the logistics table at incoming each week, which includes recording camper check-in, taking and sorting mail, checking trading post funds, checking for photo purchase, etc.
  • Sort incoming camper and staff mail and prepare outgoing mail.
  • Maintain office sign-out logs (visitors, vehicles, petty cash, etc.)
  • Monitor and utilize our camp registration software, Camp Site, including pulling weekly reports and preparing rosters, reviewing paperwork completion and changes, and overseeing camper food allergies and special diets while working with the kitchen manager for successful meal service.
  • Help maintain the camp’s Facebook page including the taking, downloading, and uploading of photos of each group and each camper, as well as getting program photos printed and distributed.
  • Maintains security of staff and camp vehicle keys and documentation, as well as general vehicle maintenance and cleanliness checks
  • Assist in paperwork completion, review, and distribution.
  • Adapt swiftly to ever-changing situations, from helping campers overcome fears to handling unexpected weather shifts. Embrace challenges with a positive attitude, thriving in a fast-paced, adaptable work environment.
  • Champion the values and vision of the Girl Scouts program, fostering a supportive community and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Assist in creation and/or leading of weekly all-camp activities, themes, and opening and closing day activities while upholding the utmost safety and efficiency for the girls and staff. or participating in pre-camp training, post-camp clean-up, staff meetings, and in-service opportunities, as well as post-season review.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures, including emergency action plans, health, and hygiene standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements; assist in the implementation of regular safety drills and training for staff.
  • Prioritize exceptional customer service for our girls, volunteers, and staff, creating a supportive and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Completes additional responsibilities as needed to support program operations.

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of adults and campers.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team, work in partnership, take initiative, and follow directions as the situation requires.
  • Enthusiasm for nature and able to live in a rustic environment.
Time Commitment:

This is a seasonal role that requires living on-site for the duration of the appointment.

Dates:

These dates include paid staff training and camp clean up.

Staff will also have two hours of scheduled time off daily and one day off per week (usually Saturday).

Requirements Skills, Education, and/or Relevant Experience for Unit Leader
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • College coursework or experience in youth leadership, education, recreation, or camp settings
  • Proven ability to supervise campers and staff and support youth development
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow a structured yet flexible schedule
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain during paid training
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Physical stamina to supervise campers during long, active days
  • Ability to identify and respond quickly to safety concerns and emergencies
  • Must pass required background, fingerprint, and drug screenings
