Description
Estimator is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and preparing detailed cost information to maximize cost-effectiveness during the pre‑construction process. The estimator will visit jobsites to gather necessary information, analyze proposals, specifications, and construction documents to thoroughly understand the project. They will work closely with Project Managers to coordinate and oversee the bid process and determine the time, labor, construction materials, and product costs for projects, communicating these requirements to clients.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Evaluate proposals, specifications, and construction documents to understand the project as a whole
- Work closely with the construction project manager to oversee and coordinate the bid process for vendors and subcontractors
- Estimate time, labor, construction materials, and product costs to determine overall cost for construction projects
- Produce written proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for clients and project managers
- Visit construction sites to obtain necessary client requirement information
- Provide accurate quantity takeoff information to produce a detailed list of materials and assess total construction costs
- Follow up with clients on submitted proposals and budgets

Annual Salary $70,000 - $110,000 (bonus potential)
RequirementsEstimator should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or at a minimum, an Associate’s Degree in Construction Management, a related field, or equivalent field experience.
Estimator should be organized and detail oriented, able to properly manage time by prioritizing tasks, analytical, and possess critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. They must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to collaborate with coworkers, clients, and outside vendors. Self‑motivation and commitment are required.
Estimator should be proficient, or capable of becoming proficient, in various software applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Bluebeam, Smart Bid, and On Screen Takeoff, with the capability to learn new software applications specific to the industry such as those for estimating, scheduling, project management, and project controls.
Physical RequirementsCandidates must be aware of the physical demands of the construction industry and may be required to perform physical labor and other strenuous tasks necessary to the successful completion of projects. Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and may be required to sit, stand, travel significant distances, bend, reach, push, pull, climb, and crawl. They must be capable of working in all weather conditions.
