Baltimore Ravens – Part-Time Sewing Apprenticeship

This 7-week sewing apprenticeship is designed to train participants in the essential tasks, skills, and knowledge required to become successful sewing technicians. The program combines hands-on, practical training with foundational instruction in sewing techniques, equipment handling, workplace safety, and quality control. Participants will gain experience in Athletic sewing processes, fabric handling, and garment construction while developing the technical proficiency and work habits needed for employment in this industry.
The intent of the program is to have two apprentices transition into a permanent part-time sewing technician with our team. Apprentice’s eligibility to continue on and be hired as a permanent part-time sewing technician role will be assessed by the Sewing Manager at the end of the Apprenticeship Program.
- Responsible for sewing/mending all aspects of player uniforms and coaching apparel for the team including but not limited to general sewing and alterations of player uniforms and coaching apparel
- Construct jerseys from blanks
- Heat pressing
- Use and cursory maintenance of embroidery machine
- Proper repair of uniforms
- Construction of knee and thigh pads
- Repair of select equipment
- Responsible for accurate measurements, hemming, mending, repairing, and reconstruction of garments as needed in a precise manner
- Perform alterations as needed to ensure proper fit of garment
- Operate specialized sewing & embroidery equipment in a safe manner
- Performs accurate and detailed work in a timely manner in accordance with department standards
- Ensure sewing room is properly clean and organized
- Assist other team members as needed
- Communicate effectively with team management and other team members
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of professional level sewing and alterations experience
- High school diploma or higher preferred
- Expert in the field of sewing
- Excellent attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a team player
- Must be able to communicate effectively
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel
- Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment
- Part-time position (less than 30 hours a week)
- Must be able to work a consistent (albeit flexible) schedule
- Some weekend, holiday, and evening work will be required
- All equipment is provided
$20 per hour w/ daily meals provided
