Responsibilities- Develop and manage special event timelines, checklists, and budgets.
- Assist the Historic Site Manager with the planning and execution of the Harvest Festival and other seasonal special events.
- Work with event vendors ensuring they adhere to M-NCPPC policies and requirements.
- Assist the Historic Site Manager in coordinating special events sponsored by the Friends of the Farm Park volunteer group.
- Manage the AHFP Equipment Loan Program.
- Oversee the permitted events schedule for AHFP.
- Supervise and schedule special event volunteers.
- Collaborate with AHFP staff to develop and run public programming, special tours, and workshops.
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Event Planning, History, or a related field (preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in event coordination, with at least one year at a historic site, museum, or cultural venue.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors year-round.
- Must be able to operate motor vehicles, such as a Ford F-250 pickup truck.
- Valid Maryland driver’s license.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and event planning software.
- Strong understanding of preserving historical and cultural heritage during events.
- Experience supervising volunteers or staff.
- Self-motivate and work independently while organizing tasks.
- Learn the basic history of the site.
- Interact with the public and give garden tours or demonstrations.
- Write occasional articles for newsletters, volunteer bulletins, and social media.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. The position is year-round, part-time, up to 30 hours a week, with some evenings and weekends required. A background investigation will be completed prior to hire.
